Who’s here Wednesday! Today we meet our new p Who’s here Wednesday!
Today we meet our new patient service representative, Lynne.
•
"My husband and I just moved back to Lakeville, MN after being in Cypress, TX for the last 13 years on Friday February 26th!

I previously worked for OB/GYN Specialists years and years ago (too many to count)!! I did all the transcription for the group in Edina for many years along with front desk duties. I also worked at Fairview Ridges Hospital on the OB/GYN floor and in the evenings would take home the transcription for Burnsville.

Dr. Stephen Larson delivered by two grown sons.

It is fun to be back working in the OB/GYN area and I look forward to working with AWH and OGS.” Lynne

•
All in-person gatherings increase your exposure risk
AWH recommends gatherings of those who are already in your “pod”
Ideally if you are gathering with those that are not in your “pod”, everyone should quarantine prior to the gathering and possibly be tested for COVID
If you are getting together with people outside your “pod” remember to wear masks, wash your hands, and stay 6 feet apart, especially when eating and drinking

If you are 40 or older don’t forget to schedule If you are 40 or older don’t forget to schedule your annual screening mammogram #breastcancerawarenessmonth @americancancersociety
October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month (informat October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month (information from @americancancersociety)
•
In 2020, an estimated 276,480 new cases of invasive breast cancer will be diagnosed in women. This year, an estimated 42,170 women will die from breast cancer in the U.S.
Due to early detection and increased breast cancer awareness breast cancer deaths have decreased.
Mammograms (breast x-rays) are the best screening tool to find breast cancer early, when it may be easier to treat.
•
Breast cancer is the most common cancer in American women, except for skin cancers.
Breast cancer accounts for 15% of total cancer deaths and is the second leading cause of cancer death in women, following lung cancer. Approximately, 1 in 39 women (3%) will die from breast cancer.
•
There is no sure way to prevent breast cancer. But there are things you can do that might lower your risk including:
— Get to and stay at a healthy weight
— Be physically active
— Avoid or limit alcohol
— Women who choose to breastfeed for at least several months may also get an added benefit of reducing their breast cancer risk.
Many risk factors are beyond your control, such as being born female and getting older
•
Breast cancer can occur in men too. Men are more likely than women to be diagnosed with advanced stage breast cancer, which likely reflects delayed detection because of decreased awareness.
